I figured once friends and family arrived, I would be more interested in socializing and drinking than painting. This fact proved accurate. Still, as wild an atmosphere as it was, when I got the urge to make a few more strokes on the canvas I was relaxed and didn’t hesitate. There were a few crucial color choices I had to make near the end of the auction that occupied my determined thoughts. Other than that, I really enjoyed answering people’s questions and explaining my approach to painting. I even got a chance to meet my brother’s fiance’s parents for the first time, both of whom are extremely nice. Unfortunately I was pre-occupied with the business at hand to thoroughly get to know them, or anyone else for that matter. The finishing touch I added to my canvas was a thin layer of glow-in-the-dark paint in a very strategic manner. I advertised this fact above my canvas, but I don’t think the novelty of the idea was such a hit, or at least literally understood. People probably thought I was joking because I was having so much fun. Regardless, the painting sold to a dear friend of mine and many questions about a personal theory of art were answered.
