CBC (Corrupted Blog Correction)

So I apologize to the few blog readers that I may have left… but my WordPress blog application became corrupted a few months back and it left me unable to log in and make posts. It took me awhile to back up all my previous entries, and then I had to reformat the database on the back-end and upgrade platforms. Needless to say it was a headache and I am sorry it took so long to correct.

I suppose there are other reasons I had not devoted time to fixing the problem earlier. Life is busy, and mine is no exception. From the time of my last post, I got a promotion at work, attended 4 weddings during a span of 2 months, hung some paintings in a local restaurant, and witnessed election history in Chicago, and celebrated my 29th birthday.

I now work as an ad trafficker for Cars.com, which basically involves a lot of code crunching and quality assurance. All the advertisements on our website must meet certain specifications and I schedule these ads with specific tags and targets so they serve on the correct pages in the right area of the country. Its complex stuff, but I find it relatively easy. So, generally the last thing I feel like doing when I get home in the evenings is to sit in front of a computer again.

My brother got married to Cara in Sonoma County and I spent a wonderful week in Northern California soaking up the sun and wine. My new sister-in-law is fantastic, and I couldn’t be more proud of my brother. And guess who gave the most awesome best-man speech ever! Then in the weeks that followed that epic celebration, my friends Ross, Joe, and Scott all got married. Love was definitely in the air this past fall. Who knows, maybe cupid’s arrow will strike me again soon…ahhh, always the hopeless romantic.

At the urging of my friend, I passed one of my business cards to the manager at Jerry’s, a gourmet sandwich shop a few blocks from my house. Forgetting all about it, the manager called me and allowed me to hang some paintings on his walls. This is big news, I have never hung my work in a public venue before. To my surprise, I have received many inquiries about my work and am currently in negotiations to sell some work. Everyone who knows me, understands my marketing skills could improve. I could be doing more to get my work “out there”. Truth is I would rather be in the studio painting, and promoting oneself requires diligence. I have a few more vacation days to use up this month, so I will try and utilize those to my advantage.

Finally, I will never forget the week from Halloween through my 29th birthday. The pumpkin carving party was a blast. And never before a big fan of dressing up on Halloween, I am now a believer. I dressed up as the Swedish Chef (Yerdy-Der, Bork! Bork! Bork!) and had a raging good time. Days later I lost sleep during the final hours of the election, and my office is blocks away from Grant Park. The energy and excitement in the air that evening was electric. I was buzzing yet completely sober! Days after that I turned 29…and unfortunately yes, I feel older but not necessarily wiser. One more year to the dirty thirty.
